Principal Civil Engineer (15)
- Location: South East | Redhill, Surrey
- Salary: £55,000-£65,000
With offices across the UK our clients’ teams consult, deliver and manage Critical Human Infrastructure projects across the entire Water and Flood Risk Management sector.
The successful applicant will work on the UK’s largest flood alleviation scheme, the River Thames Scheme. The project includes the design of an 8km flood channel, water control structures, highway bridges, major service diversions and large earthworks.
Your Responsibilities
- Coordination of design outputs across all technical disciplines
- Delivery of the design stage outputs within the agreed timescale and budget
- Ensuring that an adequate Technical, Safety and Environmental review is carried out for each project
- Oversight of production of design documents which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification
- Ensuring that company/Client standard designs and design practices are utilised wherever possible
- Recording, monitoring and controlling design changes in order to maximise cost efficiency
- Raising and resolving technical queries
- Establishing working relationships with client and supply chain representatives to promote buildability and supply chain efficiency in design outputs
- Contributing to ensuring a safe working environment for all staff
- Maintaining a positive and solution-oriented approach to work, providing open and honest feedback
- Taking all reasonable steps to ensure appropriate confidentiality
Essential Requirements
You should possess and be able to demonstrate the following qualifications, skills and knowledge:
- Professional Qualification (CEng or C.WEM)
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Water & Environmental Management or a related subject
- Motivated to work on flood and coastal risk management and water projects – experience in at least one of these fields is required
- Experience of working on projects at appraisal, outline design, detailed design and constructions stages
- A high level of computer literacy
Desirable Requirements
- Experience of flood and coastal risk management and water projects
- Experience of producing flood risk assessments
- Experience of undertaking structural inspections for bridges, floodwalls and gauging weirs

Civil Design Engineer (9)

- Salary: £35,000 – £55,000 (depending on level of experience)
- Location: Hybrid working (and offices in Halifax, Glasgow, Warrington, Derby and Birmingham)
The projects are covering all aspects of Wastewater and Water networks, and treatment facilities through the project lifestyle from feasibility design through to detailed design and construction. These roles offer hybrid working with the opportunity to work out of one of their key offices based in Halifax, Glasgow, Warrington, Derby and Birmingham.
About the role:
- Implement the project requirements to fully meet the clients specification in accordance with relevant standards
- Undertake any work of a technical nature that falls within ability and competence
- Be confident to work under minimum supervision and competent to check the work of others and supervise less experienced or junior staff
- Carry out site visits and surveys and inspections
- Prepare and check feasibility studies, inspection, assessment and technical reports and other written documents in an appropriate format ensuring compliance with our clients procedures
- Comply with the requirements of our clients Integrated Management System including Health & Safety, Environmental and all other appropriate regulations
- Prepare/check design approach, calculations, drawings and documents
- Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate apply best practice within the team environment
About you:
- Degree qualified, and Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/ IEng through ICE, or relevant equivalent professional qualification) or approaching achieving relevant professional qualification having completed the necessary training requirements.
- Demonstrable experience in Water / Wastewater Engineering
- Computer literate and conversant with MS Office suite and relevant engineering software packages
- Good written and oral communication and organisational skills and to produce reports in clear concise English
- Desire to develop existing skills and acquire new technical competences to enhance personal and team capability
- Proven ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines
- Client focused approach to service delivery
- Proven enthusiasm to embrace and participate in career development initiatives
- Full Driving Licence
