Working on circa 800 infrastructure projects across the region with sustainability, customer, and innovation at the heart of everything we do brings us a host of exciting and complex challenges to overcome on a day-to-basis. As we look to increase our efficiency whilst outperforming against project and customer expectations, it is essential we plan in the most innovative, robust and accurate fashion. With this in mind, we are looking for a number of Planners with some experience, who are keen to progress , to join the team!

What will you be doing as our new Planner?
As our new Planner, you’ll take ownership of the project plan, drive the project team to deliver to the plan and challenge any delay and deviation. You will be a key member of a wholly collaborative team and will use your experience, enthusiasm and skills to help the team drive efficiency and outperformance.
Key responsibilities
- Collaboratively develop and maintain robust detailed project plans for the Delivery Team in accordance with @one requirements ensuring methodology is consistently followed
- Ensure project plans capture the full project scope and resources are considered and loaded as required
- Pro-actively identify opportunities and risks in the plan. Monitor the critical path and key milestones, advising the delivery team on any potential changes and leading challenge an mitigation actions
- Develop 4D animations of the project plan to aid digital rehearsal of the project construction
- Design and implement effective and value- added communication plans ensuring relevant teams and individuals are clear and buy into the strategy and approach
- Ensure planning standards are maintained across @one and published processes are adhered to
- Appreciate and uphold the Health & Safety standards in all planning processes with the mantra of ‘Nothing is so important that we cannot take the time to do it safely’ at the heart of all activities
A little bit about your skills, experience and behaviours ….
To be considered for this role, you’ll have demonstrable experience of working on relevant projects within the Civil engineering sector, preferably in the Water Industry. To succeed in this role, you’ll require P6 experience. With experience of leading collaborative planning processes, you’ll have the ability to interrogate/take information from drawings to implement an efficient planning service to the business.
Your ability to communicate complex information to a wide range of audiences whilst working in a pressurised situations to tight deadlines will be crucial. Able to adapt as required to meet project objectives, you’ll be innovative and supportive to other member of the teams to enhance the reputation of the Planning team amongst the business.

Apprenticeships at JN Bentley are hands-on from day one; with a dedicated mentor to support your development throughout the course, you’ll have the opportunity to work out on site and develop key skills in civil engineering and construction operations.
What you’ll do
- Getting involved in hands on practical work as well as supervisory activities to build our skills and knowledge.
- You will help integrate the design, construction and commissioning of plant and equipment mainly within the Water sector by bringing your mechanical, electrical and/or process skills to practical benefit.
- You will help play a vital in planning and programming of the MEP aspects of the projects we deliver; working with design and operational teams to support the design, planning, installation, testing, commissioning and handover of projects.
During the construction phase of projects you will work closely with our site managers to deliver projects. Duties include
- Quality – overseeing installation subcontractors, ensuring the installation is constructed to the approved designs & engineering standards. Ensuring the final product meets our & client’s requirements – testing, commissioning, fault finding & producing completion documentation.
- Safety – reviewing Risk Assessments & Method Statements, ensuring works are carried out in line with these. Overseeing electrical safety on site & ensuring procedures are being implemented correctly.
- Commercial – helping to ensure projects are deliver to time and budget.
- Contractual – understanding and working to client & suppliers contract conditions.
- Documentation – producing Commissioning Documentation, in the form of, Commissioning Plan, Inspection & Test Plan, Factory Acceptance & Site Acceptance, Training material and completions documentation.

Candidate Specification
- 5 GCSE grades A-C (9-4), must include English and Maths.
- A valid driving license is essential.
- Willingness and flexibility to travel to sites across your operational region.
