Infrastructure Development & Delivery Lead – Major Projects

With projects ranging between several hundred million pounds and several billion pounds, the team works with water companies on some of the largest and most complex infrastructure projects the sector has seen in over thirty years.

You will play a key role in not only delivering our clients’ strategy, but also in the development of their approach to the delivery of major infrastructure projects by leading small workstreams or projects.
The successful candidate may come from a variety of professional backgrounds and is likely to have experience in regulatory policy, delivery of major infrastructure projects or project finance gained from working in Government, regulators, utilities or the contracting sector.
- You will be proactive and respond flexibly to the needs of the organisation by facilitating the development and delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects across England and Wales.
- The role will also involve bringing together different advisory services to identify opportunities, developing, and maintaining strong relationships with key external players in the sector.
- You will have a broad understanding of utilities in the UK, with a special interest in the development and delivery of major infrastructure capital projects.
- You will be expected to uphold high standards of delivery and collaborate with water and wastewater companies to support them to deliver the best value for customers.

Key Deliverables
In this role you will be expected to:
- Lead the delivery of a programme of work and/or a specific area of policy related to major infrastructure projects.
- Lead the management of a a portfolio of major projects, including management of our expert advisors.
- Analyse companies’ submissions, including the analysis of complex commercial, financial, and technical proposals, providing effective scrutiny and challenge, and preparing recommendations for senior management including Board level.
- Lead the engagement with water and wastewater companies on their large infrastructure projects, including proposed commercial models and procurement strategies; cost and risk estimation; and related technical issues.
- Provide wider support to the Major Projects team in delivering its programme of work, including interfaces with RAPID and PR24.
Professional Requirements – Essential Criteria
Experience, skills and knowledge
- Lead Criterion: Knowledge and experience of managing or working with large infrastructure projects, possibly in a commercial or technical capacity within a regulated business, water sector supply chain organisation, consultancy, regulators, Government, or in another similarly relevant position.
- Experience of the private financing of public or regulated infrastructure.
- Experience of building and maintaining constructive working relationships with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders to understand their needs, expectations, and priorities, and to influence and collaborate effectively to deliver desired outcomes.
- Ability to effectively plan, prioritise and deliver projects, while working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Excellent presentation and communication (oral and written) skills, including the ability to communicate complex analysis and issues to non-technical audiences.
- Highly numerate with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including experience of identifying, analysing, and accurately interpreting a range of data and insights to inform evidence-based decisions and solutions for complex problems.
Terms and Conditions of Employment
- This is a permanent appointment. (37 hours per week)
- The salary range for this grade (Senior Associate) is £55,031-£83,888
- This role can be based in Birmingham or London (hybrid working) Relocation expenses will not be paid for this role.

Our client is currently looking for talented and motivated Civil Design Engineers to join their established multidisciplinary design teams working on key projects for Severn Trent, United Utilities, Scottish Water and Yorkshire Water

About the role:
- Implement the project requirements to fully meet the clients specification in accordance with relevant standards
- Undertake any work of a technical nature that falls within ability and competence
- Be confident to work under minimum supervision and competent to check the work of others and supervise less experienced or junior staff
- Carry out site visits and surveys and inspections
- Prepare and check feasibility studies, inspection, assessment and technical reports and other written documents in an appropriate format ensuring compliance with our clients procedures
- Comply with the requirements of our clients Integrated Management System including Health & Safety, Environmental and all other appropriate regulations
- Prepare/check design approach, calculations, drawings and documents
- Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate apply best practice within the team environment
About you:
- Degree qualified, and Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/ IEng through ICE, or relevant equivalent professional qualification) or approaching achieving relevant professional qualification having completed the necessary training requirements.
- Demonstrable experience in Water / Wastewater Engineering
- Computer literate and conversant with MS Office suite and relevant engineering software packages
- Good written and oral communication and organisational skills and to produce reports in clear concise English
- Desire to develop existing skills and acquire new technical competences to enhance personal and team capability
- Proven ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines
- Client focused approach to service delivery
