As a talented and driven Electrical Engineer on our diverse and inclusive Engineering team, you will give Electrical Engineering technical input to projects and the project team with appropriate quality and within project time constraints.
You will assist the project team in coordinating the M&E components of a variety of water and wastewater projects, including communicating with suppliers and subcontractors and supervising their actions. You will also perform on-site installation and commissioning for the electrical components of these projects. Successful performance in this capacity also requires a high degree of preparation and understanding of technical reports and documentation.

What you will do
- Create technical schedules, data sheets, and engineering calculations (e.g. hydraulic, pump, mass balance, RICS) to support Stand Alone Process deliverables.
- Collaborate with supply chain and subcontractors to understand specifications and analyse technical bids for designs.
- Design control/telemetry, instrumentation, incoming electrical supply, and installation systems for water and wastewater treatment plants.
- Assist the Electrical Discipline Head in achieving excellence in health and safety by producing safe designs in accordance with CDM regulations, standards, and acknowledged codes of practice.
- Ensure technical work meets standards and specifications while preserving uniformity in process engineering papers.
- Strengthen alliance partnerships to facilitate cross-disciplinary collaboration and knowledge sharing, resulting in superior performance through technological innovation.

Apprenticeships at JN Bentley are hands-on from day one; with a dedicated mentor to support your development throughout the course, you’ll have the opportunity to work out on site and develop key skills in civil engineering and construction operations.
What you’ll do
- Getting involved in hands on practical work as well as supervisory activities to build our skills and knowledge.
- You will help integrate the design, construction and commissioning of plant and equipment mainly within the Water sector by bringing your mechanical, electrical and/or process skills to practical benefit.
- You will help play a vital in planning and programming of the MEP aspects of the projects we deliver; working with design and operational teams to support the design, planning, installation, testing, commissioning and handover of projects.
During the construction phase of projects you will work closely with our site managers to deliver projects. Duties include
- Quality – overseeing installation subcontractors, ensuring the installation is constructed to the approved designs & engineering standards. Ensuring the final product meets our & client’s requirements – testing, commissioning, fault finding & producing completion documentation.
- Safety – reviewing Risk Assessments & Method Statements, ensuring works are carried out in line with these. Overseeing electrical safety on site & ensuring procedures are being implemented correctly.
- Commercial – helping to ensure projects are deliver to time and budget.
- Contractual – understanding and working to client & suppliers contract conditions.
- Documentation – producing Commissioning Documentation, in the form of, Commissioning Plan, Inspection & Test Plan, Factory Acceptance & Site Acceptance, Training material and completions documentation.

Candidate Specification
- 5 GCSE grades A-C (9-4), must include English and Maths.
- A valid driving license is essential.
