We are looking to recruit an experienced CAD Technician to join a team in Newcastle specialising in water projects. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a fast-growing, multi-disciplinary infrastructure consultancy.
You will be self-motivated and responsible for supporting the Digital Delivery team locally and potentially UK wide. Working under the Regional Disciple Lead, you will provide technical design support to our Engineering team and play a key role in the successful delivery of our projects.

The Opportunity:
- Collaborate with engineers from multi disciplines
- Manage personal workload plans, establishing, and maintaining delivery deadlines
- Prepare project drawings and BIM models, understanding, interpreting, and implementing local client CAD standards and BIM data requirements
- Work within the Common Data Environments for your CAD data with ISO19650 compliance
What we are looking for:
Ideally you will have a minimum HNC qualification in Civil Engineering or equivalent subjects and have experience of working on water engineering projects. In addition, you will also have:
- Experience of working in Common Data Environments using Data management Systems such as BIM360 and ProjectWise
- Used Civil3D for earthworks and pipeline profiles
- Used Revit for creating, amending structures and plant
- Ability to organise your workload across multiple projects
- Ability to mentor junior staff supporting your region

- Salary: £35,000 – £55,000 (depending on level of experience)
- Location: Hybrid working (and offices in Halifax, Glasgow, Warrington, Derby and Birmingham)
The projects are covering all aspects of Wastewater and Water networks, and treatment facilities through the project lifestyle from feasibility design through to detailed design and construction. These roles offer hybrid working with the opportunity to work out of one of their key offices based in Halifax, Glasgow, Warrington, Derby and Birmingham.
About the role:
- Implement the project requirements to fully meet the clients specification in accordance with relevant standards
- Undertake any work of a technical nature that falls within ability and competence
- Be confident to work under minimum supervision and competent to check the work of others and supervise less experienced or junior staff
- Carry out site visits and surveys and inspections
- Prepare and check feasibility studies, inspection, assessment and technical reports and other written documents in an appropriate format ensuring compliance with our clients procedures
- Comply with the requirements of our clients Integrated Management System including Health & Safety, Environmental and all other appropriate regulations
- Prepare/check design approach, calculations, drawings and documents
- Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate apply best practice within the team environment
About you:
- Degree qualified, and Chartered or Incorporated Engineer (CEng/ IEng through ICE, or relevant equivalent professional qualification) or approaching achieving relevant professional qualification having completed the necessary training requirements.
- Demonstrable experience in Water / Wastewater Engineering
- Computer literate and conversant with MS Office suite and relevant engineering software packages
- Good written and oral communication and organisational skills and to produce reports in clear concise English
- Desire to develop existing skills and acquire new technical competences to enhance personal and team capability
- Proven ability to work within a team environment with a dedicated approach to meet project deadlines
- Client focused approach to service delivery
- Proven enthusiasm to embrace and participate in career development initiatives
- Full Driving Licence
